A MAIN road is expected to reopen in the coming days.

Bourton Road, the A44, between Moreton and Bourton on the Hill is expected to reopen in the coming days following urgent work, after a freshwater pipe was found to be running through a sewer pipe underneath the road.

According to traffic monitoring website One Network, the road is expected to reopen by October 26, with the permit lasting until 5pm.

Speaking at the time of the road closure, Cllr Daryl Corps said: "Highways have had to close the bottom of Bourton Road as an emergency after a freshwater pipe was found to have gone through a sewer pipe. This clearly needs to be dealt with urgently.

"Please drive extra carefully on the surrounding country lanes. Sat-navs will inevitably divert traffic onto alternative routes, and many of our smaller lanes simply aren’t designed for large volumes of traffic or heavy vehicles."
