A new musical director has taken the baton at a long-established brass band.
Paul Whitmore is the new musical director at Shipston Town Band, bringing a fresh vision to the 114-year tradition.
Mr Whitmore, who took up the role in May following the departure of Alex Bland, is keen to promote local composers and new music as he leads the band.
He has already collaborated with composers including Seb Farrell and Ian Feltwell to create new works.
Mr Whitmore said: "I am passionate about encouraging brass players to improve and enjoy their music making.
"I want the same for each audience, so I invest time in programme planning to ensure that, whether an entertainment programme or a remembrance event, those who hear the band have an enriching experience."
His musical journey began in the Salvation Army, playing cornet in the Coventry young people's church band, which he now leads.
He also performs regularly with the senior band and has served as musical director of the Warwickshire-based Dunchurch Band since June 2012.
Mr Whitmore said: "I am delighted to be appointed as the Musical Director of Shipston Town Band and I am looking forward to leading them.
"I am already working towards the scheduled concerts for the remainder of the year.
"Audiences can look forward to a joyful and positive experience which includes a wide variety of music that will have something for everyone.
"I look forward to seeing you at our events."
Outside of music, Mr Whitmore is a keen cricket fan and still plays for his local team.
Shipston Town Band is currently ranked in the third section of British brass band contests.
Its public performance at Shipston Proms took place on June 21 at 3pm at Townsend Hall in Shipston.
