WINCHCOMBE post office has reopened in a new location after the previous branch closed.

It is now located in the Midcounties Co-op Food Market on Greet Road.

The new location has restored service to the market town after the previous branch on North Street closed in August 2023.

The post office is now open daily, providing 78 hours of service a week.

Cameron Thomas, MP for Tewkesbury, officially opened the new branch on Thursday (April 3).

Mr Thomas said: "It's great for Winchcombe residents and businesses to have a post office at the heart of this community again as it offers so many essential services including everyday banking.

"Immediately following my election, residents were desperate for my help returning the post office to Winchcombe.

"I am pleased that residents will once again enjoy post office services in the heart of the community."

The post office is located within the Co-op store, which has car parking, including disabled spaces, and long opening hours every day.

The opening hours are Monday to Saturday, 8am to 8pm, and Sunday, 10am to 4pm.

This provides 78 hours of post office service a week, which is longer than the opening hours previously offered.

There is a post office counter alongside the retail counter of the convenience store.

Services include sending mail, home shopping returns, and everyday banking services for high street banks, bill payments, dollars and euros on demand, and pre-order currencies.

Winchcombe town councillor Richard Wakeford, who was also a guest at the opening event, said: "Winchcombe has hosted a post office since 1831 until recently.

"Now we can celebrate the return of a post office service; it’s convenient for local people and businesses, and it’s a green plus as we no longer need to drive to post offices elsewhere."

Damien Haydock, post office partner account manager, said: "We are delighted to have restored post office services to Winchcombe as we know how important a post office is to a community.

"People live really busy lives and it is very handy that Winchcombe post office is open daily from early until late."
