A NON-PROFIT organisation which aims to combat loneliness and isolation across the Cotswolds is looking for new volunteers.
Cotswold Friends charity has been providing community transport for elderly and vulnerable people across the district since 1978 and is now searching for more drivers to join its friendly team.
After the pandemic, the charity - which is based in Moreton-in-Marsh - expanded its transport network into Cirencester and the surrounding villages and has seen the demand for the service grow year on year.
A group of dedicated, kind-hearted volunteers drive clients to important appointments, to the supermarket and to social visits.
The service helps combat isolation as it provides the clients, who are unable to drive themselves, with the opportunity to chat to the volunteers and get out and about.
A spokesperson for Cotswold Friends said: "We would love to get more people involved.
"Becoming a volunteer driver is a wonderful way to meet new people, bring a smile to someone’s face, get more involved in the community and be part of the inspiring team of Cotswold Friends volunteers with events throughout the year to celebrate one another.
"You can give as much or as little time as you have, from a few hours a month to several hours each week – it can be very flexible.
"If you’d like to find out more or to apply to become a volunteer, please contact our lovely volunteer manager on 01608 697007 or email volunteering@cotswoldfriends.org."
