NORTH Cotswolds homeowners are being warned about a potentially "scary" scam.

The Gloucestershire Constabulary has issued a community alert as some people have been called about work that could be done to their homes and told to expect a visit.

They have been asked by the police to pass the information on to the elderly or vulnerable who they may know or live nearby to make them aware.

The community alert said: "Homeowners in the north Cotswolds have been receiving calls from people stating that they are calling about wall insulation and saying that they will call to their home address on Monday morning at 09.00.

"This can be a scary situation for anyone and particularly more so for the elderly and vulnerable people in our neighbourhood.

"Please help us raise awareness of this scam by informing your elderly or vulnerable relatives, friends and neighbours.

"For advice on keeping yourself safe, you can find plenty of crime prevention advice on our website at www.gloucestershire.police.uk/cp/crime-prevention/ "If you have any further information about these incidents, we’d like to hear from you.

"Please complete the following online form quoting incident 0230 of 06/01/2024 : https://www.gloucestershire.police.uk/tua/tell-us-about/cor/tell-us-about-existing-case-report/"

People have been asked not to report crime through the neighbourhood alerts and instead to do it through the police website or always call 999 in an emergency.
