Residents of Beechwood Park in Stow-on-the-Wold have been volunteering to collect presents for the annual charity reverse advent calendar.

Now in its second year, the initiative drives people to donate much-needed items to Trussell Trust North Cotswold Foodbanks, with the aim of exceeding last year's volume of contributions from residents, staff and the area's community.

Beechwood Park is an age-exclusive community, with prospective residents of the development choosing from a variety of one, two, and three-bedroom apartments depending on their preferences and needs.

The community also offers a variety of onsite facilities, including a fitness studio, an outside exercise trail, a coffee lounge, a bar and a brasserie..

General manager at Beechwood Park, Matt Cotton, said: "The reverse advent calendar is one of our much-loved traditions here at Beechwood Park and the support we receive from homeowners and locals in the area is truly heart-warming.

"We work so hard to give back, finding things that the Trussel Trust really need – that’s things like tinned fruit to shower gel and even selection box treats.

"The local community have been amazing in bringing such treats in, but honestly, we and the Trussell Trust welcome anything that any local people can spare as we strive to help out at this time of year."

Once the collection is finished, the Beechwood Park team then send the donated goods to the Trussell Trust North Cotswold Foodbank's main hub, where the charity then distributes these essential items to those in need of support during the Christmas period.

Mr Cotton added: "We're still calling out for support from our local community and we are kindly asking for any donations".

He added that any non-perishable food items and toiletries are also welcome at Beechwood Park, Wintergreen Court, Stow-on-the-Wold, until Friday, December 1.

"Every item helps, so please don’t worry if you miss a particular item that we have requested on the calendar – any help is truly appreciated, thank you," he said.
