A woman will appear before a crown court judge next month accused of stealing fundraised cash intended for a cancer charity and hospice.

Naomi Aries, 34, is alleged to have fraudulently said that the proceeds of an event held at Chipping Norton rugby club in June 2022 would be split between Macmillan Cancer Support and Katherine House Hospice.

She is also accused of stealing money – said to be £1,200 – destined for the two charities.

Appearing before Oxford Magistrates’ Court on Friday morning (October 20), Aries, of The Paddocks, Enstone, indicated not guilty pleas to allegations of fraud by false representation and theft.

District Judge Kamlesh Rana sent the case to Oxford Crown Court for a trial preparation hearing on November 23, when a date will be set for the trial.
