A NEW holiday site - with a wellness facility and spa - is set to come to the Cotswolds after plans were approved.

Stow's High Street will welcome eight new self-contained holiday lets after planning permission was granted for Fosseway Farm.

The plans will also see communal guest facilities, including a boot room, wellness facilities, a swimming pool, spa and treatment rooms.

The majority of the swimming pool will be located outside.

Currently, Fosseway Farm has two existing houses on site, a range of post-war agricultural buildings, including a Dutch barn and A Grade II listed tower.

Plans will also see a total of 11 parking spaces and a bicycle store opposite the parking area.

Solar panels, electric vehicle charging points, heat pumps and sedum roofs will also be installed as part of the project.

Fosseway Farm is located in the Maugersbury Conservation Area and the Cotswolds Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty.

However, planning officers felt that the site's closeness to the town centre would not result in an encroachment into the open countryside, nor would it impact the town's setting within the AONB landscape.

It added that the proposed development will not impact the character or appearance of the Cotswolds AONB.

Planning officer Martin Perks said: "Overall, it is considered that the proposed development will secure the sustainable redevelopment of the existing site and contribute positively to the vitality and viability of the town.

"It will not have an adverse impact on designated and non-designated heritage and is considered not to have an adverse impact in any other respects.

"It is therefore recommended that this application is granted planning permission."
