ONE hundred bowlers surveyed last Sunday's Gala Day with trepidation at Littleton as the wind and rain made for a dismal morning.

However, the elements cleared at 11am and the day became a pleasure as teams from Worcester, Cheltenham and Wales met to provide a great competition - not without incident.

A local team scored only one, two, three, and four in their 40 ends - in that order and against opposition totals of 91 combined.

Another team from Worcester scored an extraordinary 32-1 win in only eight ends - and one team - despite winning four out of four - didn't collect sufficient points to reach the semi-finals.

The finals were won by Mo Clifton's team from Barbourne, whose other team, Aston Somerville and Evesham finished second, third and fourth respectively.

The club's home match against Inkberrow was won by a magnificent 73-26 with Mike Emms skippering Barbara Brotherton and Mike Mansell to a 26-7 victory.

The Littleton Gold Triples team lost by two points to Aston Somerville Reds. A good 20-12 win by Jan Lynes and Pete Sylvester, skippered by Graham Corbett, nevertheless saw Aston take the match by two shots.
