THE North Cotswold Young Cricketers Club Under-13s played two games last week when they recorded two fine wins.

They played Overbury at home and scored 286-8 with Dan Lamb (31) and Dan Moore (16) playing some fine shots.

Their opponents' innings started well and, at the halfway stage, they were in front of the asking rate.

However, the introduction of Joe Cafearo who took three wickets for four runs slowed the scoring down. Chris Holmes chipped in with a couple of late wickets as Overbury closed 23 runs short on 263- 9.

The next game was at Alcester and Ragley and again the Sparmoor youngsters batted first and rattled up 312-6 with Lamb continuing his good form with 33.

Cafearo added 19 useful late runs but the running between the wickets is something for the boys to work on.

Alcester's innings got off to a flyer but the away swing of Hayden Elsdale slowed things down as he claimed 3-13 to help restrict the hosts to 278-6.
