Mystery surrounds the cause of a carer’s death in Witney at the start of the year.

Sing’ombe Sakala, 41, of Idbury Close, collapsed on his bed in the early hours of January 2, having woken to use the toilet, Oxford Coroner’s Court heard last week.

He was thought to have suffered a cardiac arrest and members of his family started CPR.

He was taken to the John Radcliffe Hospital in Headington by paramedics, but died in hospital later that morning.

Mr Sakala’s cause of death could not be ascertained despite a post-mortem.

Coroner Joanna Coleman recorded an ‘open’ conclusion at an inquest into the Zambia-born man’s death on Thursday (August 24).
