Meghan Markle's former friend has claimed "the writing is on the wall" for the Duke and Duchess of Sussex's marriage.

Recent unconfirmed reports have suggested that Meghan and Prince Harry are facing difficulties in their relationship, with claims the couple are living separate lives and spending time apart.

However, a source close to the couple has dismissed these allegations, stating that they are "literally made up".

Despite this, Meghan's former friend this Lizzie Cundy has told The Mirror that she believes the marriage is heading toward a separation.

According to Lizzie, Meghan was not prepared for the demands and responsibilities that came with being a royal princess.

She told The Mirror: "We could all see the writing was on the wall, it's very different when you're a celebrity princess than being a royal princess and frankly Meghan just wasn't up for the job.

Cotswold Journal:

"She didn't want to put the hard work in opening hospitals and doing all the roles that royals do, it's not easy, it's not glamorous, it's not like on the red carpet."

Lizzie met Meghan in 2013 when she was asked to sit with the former Suits actress at a charity event.

Speaking about the potential split, Lizzie speculated that it may offer some benefits for Harry, highlighting the challenges he faces in California, being far from his friends and family, and dealing with strained relationships with his father and brother.

The couple relocated to California after announcing their intention to step down as senior working members of the royal family in 2020, aiming to live a more independent lifestyle.

The rumours about the state of Meghan and Harry's marriage emerged around the same time as speculation that they might be downsizing their residence in Montecito.

It was suggested that this decision was due to the conclusion of their podcast deal with Spotify.

In May, 2023, it was reported that the Duke and Duchess of Sussex were involved in a "near catastrophic" car chase after they attended the Ms Foundation for Women's 50th anniversary gala event in New York.

While travelling home from the event, the couple, accompanied by Meghan Markle's mother, Doria Ragland,  were chased by paparazzi, according to Prince Harry's spokesperson.

The spokesperson further described the pursuit as "relentless," lasting over two hours and resulting in multiple near collisions.
