The creator of the World's Fastest Shed has now appeared on a popular national TV show after making a vehicle from a wheelie bin.

Kevin Nicks, from Great Rollright near Chipping Norton, appeared on BBC One's Have I Got News For You as a result of his unusual mode of transport.

Shown a video of Mr Nicks' bin, which has a smiley face, in action on Friday's episode of the comedy news show, comedian Desiree Burch said: "Looks like it might be a chick magnet. I've seen worse cars... I've gotten into worse cars."

Journalist Matt Chorley said: "Presumably he has to keep going because if he stays still a lorry will come along and tip him up."

Host Diane Morgan then quoted from the original Oxford Mail story where the self-employed designer and builder said: "Have I got a piece of paper saying I'm an engineer? No."

But she added: "Have I got a piece of paper from the wife saying I'm leaving you? Yes."

She also quoted from our story which explained he takes the world's fastest shed to care homes to cheer people up.

Ms Morgan quipped: "Just what they want to see. A large wooden box."

Mr Nicks, who also built the world's fastest wheelbarrow (travelling up to a speed of 53.85mph), the world's fastest motorised BMX bike and the world's longest mobility scooter, measuring six metres, told the Oxford Mail he adores his work and hopes to continue his "crazy" ventures.

He added: "A lot of what I do is to inspire other people to go and do fun things.

"The secret to it all should be having fun and being silly."
