A BURNT-OUT car has been recovered following a fire in Shipston.

Campden Road was closed for several hours following a blaze in the early hours of Tuesday morning.

Police and firefighters both rushed to the scene, at around 2am.

"We were made aware of a car on fire in a hedge on Campden Road in Shipston shortly before 2.15am this morning (April 18)," said a spokesperson for Warwickshire Police.

"Fire attended and the blaze was put out.

"Thank you for the patience of road users on Campden Road, Shipston, as we temporarily closed the road to recover a vehicle this afternoon.

"The road is now open."

Warwickshire Fire and Rescue Service were also at the scene.

A spokesperson added: "We were alerted at 1.56am on April 18 to reports of a car on B4035 Campden road, off the roadway in a hedge fully alight. 

"One crew attended the scene and, on arrival, found one small car on fire off the roadway with no persons trapped.

"The teams extinguished the fire using jets.

"The crew was at the scene for around 50 minutes."
