A date has been set for the hearing for Jeremy Clarkson's two planning appeals against West Oxfordshire District Council.

One appeal is against the decision to refuse a car park extension for the Diddly Squat farm shop and the second is against the enforcement notice for opening a restaurant without planning permission.

Mr Clarkson opened a restaurant at the site in July 2022 despite his planning application having been rejected.

He wrote in his Sunday Times column that he had found a "loophole" in the regulations.

However, the council issued an enforcement notice on 12 August 2022 which ordered the restaurant to close.

The TV presenter at first appealed the enforcement notice but then U-turned and wrote to the council saying he 'no longer wished to open a restaurant'.

However, in its appeal submissions WODC states: "The LPA (local planning authority) understands from his agent that this comment applies principally to the change of use of the 'lambing shed'.

Referring to this appeal a WODC spokesperson said: “The Council will respond to the appellant’s grounds of appeal by setting out the basis for serving the notice, detail of the breaches of planning control and the reasons why it considers the notice should be upheld and the appeal dismissed.

"The determination of the Inspector is binding on the parties.”

The planning inspector will conduct the hearing from March 14 at 10am at WODC's Woodgreen offices.

Members of the public can attend.
