POLICE are appealing for witnesses after a gang of burglars ram-raided a shop and a petrol station last month, causing "extensive damage".

Thieves, wearing balaclavas, attacked a shop in Moreton-in-Marsh high street as well as a petrol station in Bourton-on-the-Hill in the early hours on Wednesday December 28.

At around 2.20am a vehicle was driven into the front of a store on Moreton-in-Marsh high street.

The vehicle was used to drive through the shop front and then a group of burglars, who were all wearing balaclavas, gained access and stole a number of items from within.

Extensive damaged was caused to the building during the incident.

The group then fled the area in a white Volkswagen vehicle believed to have been driven on false plates.

At around 2.30am a petrol station nearby in Bourton-on-the-Hill was also attacked by the same group travelling in the white Volkswagen.

A number of items were stolen, including cigarettes and alcohol.

The vehicle left the scene in the direction of Fish Hill.
