A murder investigation is underway in Chipping Campden.
Police have arrested a man on suspicion of murder after an elderly woman died due to fatal head injuries in the Cotswold town.
Officers were called to the scene at around 12.30am this morning, January 6, where the woman in her 80s was found with wounds which she later died from.
Her next of kin have been informed.
Police believe the man, who is now in custody, was known to the woman.
A spokesperson for Gloucestershire Police said: ''The Major Crime Investigation Team is in the early stages of an investigation and officers are appealing for any witnesses or anyone with information to make contact with police.
''Those involved in the incident are believed to be known to each other and officers are not currently seeking anyone else in connection with the investigation at this time.''
