A CHIPPY in Cirencester has been given a 'plaice' in the top five of the National Fish and Chip Awards for Restaurant of the Year.

Malt and Anchor have been shortlisted for the national accolade amongst other fish and chip shops in Nottingham, Norfolk, Northern Ireland and Gloucestershire.

The chippy has been nominated for another top award just weeks after being recognised by TripAdvisor as a 2022 Travellers' Choice award winner for casual dining.

Malt and Anchor have now battered the competition once again to be whittled down to the final five to win Restaurant of the Year.

Chosen based on their expert industry knowledge and outstanding customer service, alongside strong environmental standards and ability to observe sustainability best practice, the restaurants shortlisted are:

● The Cod’s Scallops, West Bridgford

● Eric’s Fish and Chips, Thornham

● Fish City, Belfast

● Henry’s of Hunstanton, Hunstanton

● Malt and Anchor, Cirencester

The Restaurant of the Year category is sponsored by Seafood from Iceland.

The winner will be announced at The National Fish & Chip Awards, hosted by The National Federation of Fish Friers (NFFF), on February 28 at the Park Plaza, Westminster Bridge.
