ONE of the catalysts of Bishops Cleeve's promotion to Step 4 this season has departed the club.

Striker Jack Watts scored 30 goals in The Mitres' Hellenic League Premier title winning side in the 2021/22 season but has agreed to a return to old club Stourport Swifts in the Midland Football League Premier.

Watts played 250 games for Cleeve during his eight-year stint with the club and has scored 110 goals in 145 matches at both Step 4 and 5.

The frontman scored on his second debut for Swifts last weekend in the 1-0 win over Whitchurch Alport.

Before the game, a statement on the Swifts' Twitter account read: "Arguably the best striker within a 50 mile radius of our great club and with a goalscoring record that reads 110 goals in 145 games at step 4 and 5.

"We are delighted to announce the return of Jack Watts. Welcome back!"

Cleeve wished their now former striker all the best.

"The club can confirm that striker Jack Watts has left the club and moved to Stourport Swifts.

"Jack played over 250 matches for the Mitres since joining in 2014 and was instrumental in our Hellenic title last season scoring 30 goals

"We wish Jack Watts and his family all the best."

Cleeve began life without their striker with defeat as they slipped to a 1-0 defeat at Westbury United.

The visitors had a lot of the ball in the first-half without really causing the Westbury defence any serious danger.

The home team then reversed the theme of the first-half and applied the pressure before Matty Morris’ cross was met by Aaron Cockerill with a bullet header to net the only goal of the game.
