A facility is set to launch at a Cotswold library with a whole host of new equipment

Chipping Campden is one of three libraries in Gloucestershire which will launch an innovation lab in the coming months.

The labs will come with a range of equipment for visitors to use, including a design studio, virtual reality, podcast recording equipment, laser cutters, and micro-computers.

Gloucestershire county councillor Dave Norman, cabinet member for libraries, said: “These Innovation Labs are providing an invaluable service for their communities by offering free access to digital technology so I’m delighted these official launch events are taking place.

“I would encourage members of the public to come along to their local lab to find out what they offer and how you can benefit from these fantastic facilities.”

The launch events for each site will run from 2pm to 5pm and will allow members of the public to come and try out the technology.

Lab techs will be on hand throughout the afternoon to answer any questions and will run special activities for children aged eight and over from 4pm to 5pm.

Chipping Campden’s ‘open afternoon’ will be held on Tuesday, September 20.

Similar events will take place at Tewkesbury Library on Monday, September 12, and at Cheltenham Library on Tuesday, October 4.

The three libraries are part of a network of six innovation labs across Gloucestershire, with one in each district.
