Lamborghinis, Aston Martins, and Bugattis graced the gravels and greens of the Cotswolds over the weekend.

The Broadway Car Show made its return on Saturday with a focus on all things supercar as crowds enjoyed getting up close to the impressive machines under the scorching summer sun.

One of the many highlights of the opening day was the collection of cars provided by Aston Martin.

The British sports car company lent their 2018 Vantage WEC race car that won the GT Manufacturers FIA World Endurance Championship in 2019-20, as well as their Vantage F1 and three other fine cars.

They were joined in the display by a McLaren Senna, from London, and every enthusiast’s 1980s dream car, the Lamborghini Countach LP5000 QV.

There was also a Lamborghini Muira that once belonged to Justin de Villeneuve, supermodel Twiggy’s manager and partner.

Meanwhile, rallying was represented by a 1981 Renault 5 Turbo Tour de Corse and a 2006 Peugeot 206 WRC.

Day two of the show, Sunday August 14, saw a change of pace with classic cars taking centre stage, although the sunshine was no less bright, with temperatures once again breaking the 30 degrees mark.

Cars from the early 1900s through to 1969 were on display, including several original and restored Jaguar E-Types and other British sports cars, such as the 1934 Salmson S4C and the local Austin 12/4 Racer.

Rallying was represented by a 1971 Mini Cooper Rally car that is still competing while British racing heritage was showcased by the Jaguar XJ13 prototype, donated by JHW Classics.

The highlight of Sunday’s display was provided by the Bugatti Trust at Prescott, who arranged for nine of their owners to display their pre-war cars, ranging from tourers to Grand Prix racers.

Their owners were kindly willing to discuss their cars, in interview, so that the enthusiastic crowd could learn more.

The standout of these was the unique Jean Bugatti built coupé, the Type 40 ‘Lidia’ car.

At 4pm the biannual free event came to a close, with attention swiftly turning to 2024.

An organiser said: “We would like to thank all of those who displayed their cars to create such a stunning, exciting display, and all of those who travelled to Broadway to enjoy the Show.

“We received so many plaudits by email and on social media. Thank you to you all.

“We very much hope to see many of you again at the next Show in August 2024.”
