An aircraft fuselage is being transported along the M5 this morning (Thursday, August 11).

Gloucestershire police are warning motorists about the abnormal load, which is being escorted from Kemble Airfield and travelling on the M5 northbound.

From 9.30am roads policing staff have been escorting an aircraft fuselage, which is 5.8 metres wide.

The top deck of a Boeing 747 is making its final journey from Kemble this morning.

Part of British Airways’ G-BYGA aircraft, it is travelling from Cotswold Airport up to City Airport in Salford, where it is set to become a visitor centre, flight simulator and tourist attraction called The Deck.

It was planned to travel from Kemble Airfield onto the A429, A419, A417 and then join the M5 at 11a northbound.

This is expected to cause traffic delays and police have advised people to use alternative routes where possible.
