FIREFIGHTERS in Oxfordshire were called to 15 separate incidents yesterday, due to the hot temperatures and dry weather.

Oxfordshire Fire and Rescue Service posted several tips online in managing the weather, with temperatures set to soar this week.

The fire service urged the public to follow safety advice available on its 365alive website, which has information on countryside fires, bonfires, and water safety.

“Whether this is just enjoying the open air, camping at designated sites or in a caravan, we seriously urge everyone to take this advice and make sure that we all look out for each other,” the fire service reported.

“Make sure you have plenty of water to hand, sunscreen lotion for every member of the family and look to take shelter at the height of the day.

“Temperatures are expected to be in the high 20s or low 30s throughout the week.”

Charlbury Fire Station shared the message, saying: “We were very busy at one of these incidents yesterday.

“There were 10 fire engines at our job in Kiddington at one point trying to control a very large field fire.

“The crew worked hard for over five hours to bring it under control and extinguish it.”
