A FIRE destroyed a mobile home in Chipping Norton.

Oxfordshire Fire and Rescue Service were alerted to the blaze at The Beeches last week and were able to act quickly to save neighbouring properties.

A OXFRS spokesperson said: "On Tuesday (August 2) at 18:30, crews from Chipping Norton and Hook Norton Fire Station OXFRS were called to reports of a mobile home on fire in The Beeches, Chipping Norton.

"Before even arriving at the scene, thick smoke was visible and the Officer in charge requested a further fire appliance from Woodstock Fire Station to assist.

"On arrival, crews were faced with one mobile home fully involved in fire. Surrounding mobile homes were also starting to be affected by the significant heat."

They added: "Working in difficult conditions of extreme heat and thick smoke the crews quickly established a water source and began to douse the fire whilst also wetting the surrounding homes to prevent fire spread.

"Unfortunately the mobile home where the fire started was lost to the blaze, but the quick actions of the crews did save the surrounding properties."

It is not known what caused the fire.
