BASKETBALL featured highly when a number of the District's female Secondary School students took to the courts at Stratford Leisure and Visitor Centre.

The annual event, organised by Stratford-on-Avon District Council saw seven schools take part in the -Under-16 and Under- 13 tournaments.

Seven out of ten of the District's Secondary Scho-ols were represented and 110 children took part from Alcester High and Grammar, Studley High, Shipston High, St Benedict's, Stratford Girls' Grammar and Henley HS.

St Benedict's repeated their 2007 success by winning both tournaments. More impressively was the fact that neither the Under-16 or Under-13 teams lost a game. However, the 16s only got the better of Stratford Girls by the number of baskets scored as their their head-to-head match and points were level.

Stewart Colmer, Sports Development Officer, is always looking for competent referees, scorers and helpers for schools' tournaments.
