Broadway Utd U-13 4, Churchdown Panthers 0

BROADWAY produced some good football in parts but failed to find any rhythm.

The hosts had an early scare when a Churchdown attack ended with a corner following a good build-up and goalkeeper James Bishop had to palm a shot away.

Broadway missed a hatful of chances before Jacob Knight gave them the lead midway through the first half with a low shot into the corner from just inside the area.

Broadway's defence of Luis Sone, Ben Hoskins, Luke McDonagh and Harry Parker kept the Panthers at bay with the away side not producing a single shot in the whole match.

Midfielders Knight, Harry Lowe, Sean Cooke, Drew Clarke and Charlie Stock created openings throughout and player of the match Alex Hammerton produced another fine display up front and grabbed himself a hat-trick with three excellent strikes.

Broadway travel to Prestbury Park, Cheltenham on Sunday to face Lakeside.

Chipping Norton Tn Swifts U-15 3, Broughton & North Newington Yth 1

FOR the second successive week, Broughton faced Chippy with a depleted squad and that led to the hosts taking revenge for an earlier defeat.

The first half-an-hour was fairly even but it was Chippy who took the lead courtesy of a well-taken floater from Ollie Brotherston.

Worse was to come for Broughton with ten minutes of the first half left when Matty Wright was taken off injured and the visitors had to play the rest of the game with only ten players.

The second half was very much one-way traffic with Chippy pressing forward at every opportunity but Broughton stood tall and firm and made their opponents work hard.

However, Brotherston scored his second and third goals midway through the half and it could have been more had it not been for the efforts of goalkeeper Tom Leigh and his defence.

Broughton broke away to score a deserved consolation late on on a day when they never gave up.
