One lucky child will get to start the West Oxfordshire stage of the Women's Tour cycle race if they come up with a winning design for a starting flag.

The winner will have the chance to raise it to start the race and get the riders on their way.

They will also get VIP access to the event for them and their family plus a shirt signed by the competitors.

Entries should be related to cycling or the landscape along the route. This could be a landmark, village or the beautiful West Oxfordshire landscape.

Stage 6 of the Women’s Tour of Britain, the last day of the race, will start from Chipping Norton on Saturday June 11.

The cyclists will race south through Charlbury, Burford, and Carterton before heading through South and Vale district, finishing in Oxford.

Katie Scott, from Faringdon, who rides for British team CAMS-Basso, will be one of the judges of the competition.

She said: "Riding the Women's Tour last year on home roads in Oxfordshire was one of the highlights of my racing career so far, so it's brilliant to see the race is back in the region again

"The support we received from the roadside was something else.

"I love that the local community gets so involved and this competition is a brilliant and fun way for children here to get creative. I can't wait to see all the designs."

Closing date is midday Friday May 27 and there is no limit to the number of entries. Primary schools are encouraged to enter multiple designs from different classes.
