ONE of the most popular music festivals in the region returns this summer for its 10th anniversary.

Lakefest, set in the grounds of Eastnor Castle, is playing host to big names including UB40, Manic Street Preachers and Supergrass.

Organisers say this 10th anniversary edition of Lakefest will be the best yet, with a mix of music for everyone.

A spokesperson said: "Lakefest doesn't claim to have invented fun: but we carry our own 'fun button' and it gets pushed all day, and every day.

"The organisers are a group of independent families, who enjoy nothing more than making sure that your family has the time of their lives.

"It is no surprise that Lakefest is consistently rated as one of the best events of its kind anywhere in the world.

"But don't take our word for it. Come and see for yourself. In a field, by a lake, under the protective shadow of its own castle."

Army parachute team The Red Devils will be parachuting in to kick off the opening night on August 11, with the first live performances of the festival coming from UB40.

In addition to the music, there are events for all ages including a junior talent show, wellness activities, paddle-boarding, fairground rides and a range of food and drink.

For the kids, there is face-painting, circus workshops and silent discos to keep them entertained.

In its anniversary year, the festival is beginning a partnership with The Children's Hospital charity and, for every pint sold, a cash donation will be made.

The 2021 Lakefest included big-name acts like Sir Tom Jones, who headlined the festival calendar, Echo and the Bunnymen, Seasick Steve and Razorlight.

Other musical highlights of the four-day event included Scouting for Girls, T’Pau and New Model Army.
