A STROUD mum who started a business baking at home has opened up her own shop in Nailsworth.

Beth Stapleton has been baking tempting plant-based treats for a growing number of customers out of her Rodborough kitchen for six years now.

A self-taught baker who started experimenting with cake recipes as a child, she finally decided it was time to start her own cake business in 2016 after having her first daughter.

Baking from home, she starting supplying local cafes and trading at Stroud Farmers Market.

Demand grew for her vegan, gluten and refined sugar free cakes and so she gradually developed her own set of recipes to make her whole range plant based.

And earlier this month, Beth decided to expand the business and take on a dedicated premises.

Located in Market Street, next to Amalfi, the new Baked By Beth shop and bakery launched on April 8, and is proving to be very popular.

"It has been really busy so far," said Beth.

"The aim is to celebrate plant based treats and local makers in an inviting and cosy space.

"As always, my cakes deliver the ultimate feel good treat which tastes delicious but is also vegan, gluten and refined sugar free.

"For people yet to be convinced to move towards a plant based diet - come and try them.

"It's a space where people can come and enjoy a plant based treat - cakes, brownies, tarts and raw bars - and a coffee or tea.

"Our coffee has been locally roasted in Cirencester by Fire & Flow, and our range of tea blends have been created by Born Wild tea, which is also a Cirencester based business.

"Drinks are served in local pottery made by Rodborough based ceramicist Penny Campbell, and her work is also for sale.

"You can also get yourself some amazing vegan chocolate by Coco Caravan (Stroud)."

People can drop in to take away a selection of cakes, a coffee or sit and enjoy a treat with a small number of indoor and outdoor seats.

Bespoke cakes and brownie boxes can be ordered to collect or be delivered by the Bike Drop (or brownie boxes by post).

Baked By Beth is open from Wednesday to Friday, 10am to 4pm, and on Saturdays from 10am to 3pm.
