Cotswolds Monopoly is out now, giving you the chance to buy the Journal.

The latest edition of the popular family board game was officially launched today with a celebration at Sudeley Castle and Gardens.

The game’s mascot, Mr Monopoly, arrived at the Grade I listed building on Wednesday morning aboard a tractor.

On the board, the iconic Cotswold venue takes up one of the elusive dark blue spots.

Shane Samarawikrema, General Manager at Sudeley Castle, said: “We are delighted to have landed in the top exclusive set on the new board.

“We are sure this unique edition offers recognition to all involved who offer the best places to visit in The Cotswolds.”

In total more than 30 Cotswold landmarks feature in the new edition of the game, including the Cotswold Journal, which occupies one of the Chance card places on the board.

The most expensive property up for grabs is Broadway Tower, while at the other end of the scale is Malmesbury Abbey, filling the space usually occupied by Old Kent Road.

Players will also be able to purchase Bourton Model Village, Jeremy Clarkson’s Diddly Squat Farm Shop, and Tewkesbury Abbey.

The Cotswolds edition was first announced last year, with the public invited to send in their suggestions for tokens, landmarks, and organisations to feature in the game.

The most popular suggestion, a tractor, will replace the racing car playing piece, while a sheep will take the place of the Scottie dog.

"This could be the slowest MONOPOLY game ever anywhere in the world!” warns Ella Gibbs, Custom Games Executive at Winning Moves UK, who are producing the game under licensing from Hasbro.

She added: "We would like to formally thank each and every person who sent in nominations.

“The tractor was the most popular suggestion, followed by the sheep and campervan.”
