FIREFIGHTERS cut open a car roof to rescue a person trapped inside following a crash.

At 10.20pm last night, crews from Chipping Norton, Hook Norton and Banbury were called to the incident just outside Chipping Norton, at the roundabout where the A361 crosses the A3400.

On arrival, crews found the badly damaged car on its side, with one person trapped inside.

All roads entering the roundabout were shut while work to release the casualty began.

Using hydraulic cutters, the roof was folded down to gain access, whereupon the fire service could safely assess the person and get them into the care of the paramedics and doctors from South Central Ambulance Service and Thames Valley Air Ambulance, who were also at the scene.
