A public consultation is running to help identify where improvements are required in Witney and Ducklington to make cycling and walking safer and more accessible.

Councillor Duncan Enright, Oxfordshire County Council’s Cabinet Member for Travel and Development Strategy, said: “Witney is a lovely town and not too big to get around on foot or by bike or mobility scooter.

"But we know the footpaths and cycle lanes leave a lot to be desired, particularly after a decade of cuts in road budgets. However, we are collecting ideas to make a new strategy to correct the situation.”

Oxfordshire County Council is creating a plan for Witney and Ducklington, including routes into the surrounding areas, and for those who use mobility scooters, pushchairs, or wheelchairs.

The aim is to reduce congestion, improve personal health, improve air quality and fight climate change, making Witney and Ducklington more pleasant places to live, work and visit.

They are seeking input from the community to identify where infrastructure improvements can be made, such as more lighting, dropped kerbs, lower speed limits, better crossings, cycle lanes, cycle parking, and benches.
