A 39-year-old Bourton-on-the-Water man who brandished a knife and used threatening behaviour in his home street has been jailed for sixteen weeks.
Robert McLaughlin of Rye Close, Bourton, pleaded guilty at Cheltenham Magistrates Court on Oct 15th to having a bread knife in a public place, Rye Close, on 30th May this year.
He also admitted using threatening or abusive words or behaviour likely to cause harassment, alarm or distress on the same date.
The magistrates imposed a 16-week jail term, saying that custody was justified because he had 'brandished a knife at another's home.'
The court ordered confiscation of the knife and McLaughlin was ordered to pay a £128 Victim Services surcharge.
