Councillors were out in Mickleton on Sunday, cleaning up graffiti amid a recent spate of vandalism.

Four Mickleton Parish councillors and several members of the public took it into their own hands to clean up some of the graffiti that had appeared around the village.

The council confirmed that the recent incidents have been reported to the police, who are investigating the situation.

Councillors involved include chairman Graham Tyler and vice-chairwoman Joanne Piper-Bourn as well as councillors Sophia Ford and Elizabeth Evans.

The statement from the Parish Council read: “There has been a bit of a run of graffiti of late and we have been trying to keep on top of it. It has been reported to the police and they are looking into it.

“Thank you to Cllr Tyler, Cllr Piper-Bourn Cllr Ford and Cllr Evans for cleaning it off with help from Phil Britt, Jean Chalmers, Wayne Read and Adam Evans.

“Your help and elbow grease is very much appreciated.

“There is more we still have to tackle so anyone who is able and would like to help please get in contact. Many hands make light work!”
