NEW Dales Vale FC are through to the County Cup semi-finals after a convincing 5-1 win over Redditch Boro AT last weekend.

They will now face Tenbury United as they look to reach the final of the competition.

Despite a few players absent for injuries and suspensions, Vale were quick out of the blocks. Rio Janic was denied early on after getting in behind the Redditch defence, but from the resulting corner, Janic emphatically fired home to give Vale an early lead.

Minutes later another break away saw Vale attack with pace and when the initial attack broke down, the ball rolled loose on the edge of the area to Ryan Upson who stepped up to fire home from just outside the box to extend their lead.

Vale continued to pile on the pressure and Janic had further opportunities to extend the lead, with the away keeper making several saves to deny him.

However, on nineteen minutes, a good ball from George Corbett sent the striker clear once again, and this time he fired home left footed to give Vale a three goal cushion.

The hosts continued to ask questions of the travelling side before Borough got back into it and on a couple of occasions looked dangerous but at half-time the scores remained 3-0.

The deficit was reduced at the start of the second-half and when Vale failed to deal with a threatening attack, Borough calmly slotted home from the opening and were back in the game.

This goal brought Vale back into life and with Redditch pushing forward to try and get further goals, Alex Bradley and Martin Fowler, alongside wing-back Dave Hadden, enjoyed more space and time down the wings.

Bradley created several opportunities down the right and just after the hour mark he did well again and hung a ball across the box for Fowler to head home Vale's fourth and put the tie to bed.

With minutes to go, there was still time for Janic to get his hat-trick with Owen Lane also forcing a save from the away keeper from a header.

Vale are next in action on Saturday when we entertain Cheltenham Civil Service Reserves in the Cheltenham Junior Cup quarter-final.
