Works on a major upgrade of Willersey Village Hall completed this year thanks to contributions and grants from The National Lottery Awards for ALL, local government and local businesses.
Next year will mark 100 years since the hall was first built, with the hope of holding a huge post-covid party to celebrate in 2021.
Phil Bennett, the chair of Willersey Parish Council, said: “It’s been a bittersweet year, we are so thrilled to have a super modern community building that will be used to enrich the lives of residents, from meetings to mums groups, dances to yoga.
“Due to covid, we’ve not yet opened, but when we do, we plan to celebrate with a big party for everyone! Big thanks to all those who have made this happen, both volunteers locally and businesses like Blue Cedar Homes, who we met today.”
Simon Tofts, land Director at Blue Cedar Homes, was treated to a tour of the hall, where he handed over a donation to the village’s, Christmas Food Bank.
He said: “It’s great to see how well the money contributed has been used to such great effect; the hall is fantastic.
“We have enjoyed getting to know the people of Willersey and the surrounding area, and are looking forward to joining them for their big celebrations next year.”
