A MAN has been arrested in Carnforth on suspicion of a double murder.

The suspect was detained after a vehicle was stopped on Hunter Street at around 11.30am today.

He was arrested on suspicion of murder over the shooting of two men found dead at a West Midlands industrial estate.

Police said the man has been transported to a custody facility for questioning about the shooting of two men whose bodies were found in a car parked off Moor Street in Dudley at 3.30pm yesterday (30 Sept).

It is understood the victims – aged in their late 20s/early 30s and yet to be formally identified – were killed at the industrial estate shortly after 1pm.

A post mortem examination is scheduled to take place tomorrow.

The location of the killings remains sealed off while forensic experts examine the scene.

Detective Chief Inspector Jim Munro from our Homicide Unit, said: “This is a fast moving investigation, a real team effort involving officers who’ve worked around the clock since the discovery of the bodies to trace the person we believe is responsible.

“The arrest is a significant development but our enquiries continue and I would appeal to anyone with information about what’s happened, or anyone who was in the area at the time and saw or heard anything suspicious, to get in touch.”
