NEW technology installed at St Laurence Church will soon be able to be put to good use.

It has been paid for with support from the Lottery Community Fund.

One of the first uses of this will take place at the beginning of October when the internationally famous Tom Bowes, who with his wife Eleanor Alberga, would normally be curating the Arcadia Festival at that time, will be giving a Bach violin recital from the Chancel.

Because there will be no live performances with an audience until at least the beginning of next year it will be streamed.

The intention is that the recital will be used as a means of generating funds for a Ludlow community charity.

Technical support for this event will be provided by Carl of Ludlow-based Wild Edric Media.

St Laurence Church is keen to start to recover some of the revenue that has been lost because of the Covid-19 pandemic.

The church is dependent upon the money its gets from visitors including donations as well as from the events that normally take place.

In normal circumstances St Laurence Church is the largest visitor attraction in the town but it costs a lot of money to maintain and heat.

As well as regular income the Church is also dependent upon grant funding for major work to the fabric of the building.
