ROGUE traders have been operating in Runcorn and Widnes offering to carry out work on people's driveways.
Halton Borough Council has issued a warning after these traders tried to start the job before people agreed to have any work carried out.
The council's executive board member for trading standards, cllr Dave Cargill, said: "Our advice is never to deal with cold callers.
"If you do need work carrying out, try to get written quotes from at least three different contractors before you decide on one."
If you think you have been caught out by a rogue trader, please contact the Citizens Advice consumer helpline on 08082 231133.
If you or somebody you know has been caught out by a scam or fraud please contact one of Halton Borough Council's specialist officers, on 01515 118785 or 01515 118775.
