Care Heroes– March 2020

Care Heroes is an initiative of Herefordshire Council and we are delighted to be sponsoring the Hereford Health and Social Care Awards for the third consecutive year. We value the importance of recognising the incredible work that our care Hero’s do within our communities.

Our Care Heroes work is to support providers to attract new people to work locally within the care sector and promote how rewarding this work can be; Being part of someone’s life when they are most in need of care and support is extremely honourable and should be recognised and rewarded.

Nationally, there is a significant shortage of workforce in Adult Social Care. Locally, Care Heroes is doing something about it and will continue to carry out vital work around the county.

Herefordshire’s population is getting older. In Herefordshire there are 46,500 people aged 65+, and by 2038, this is expected to rise to 64,900 people. As we age or if our health and social circumstances change, many of us will require support from the care sector. As the number of people requiring support increases, the number of people working in care will also need to increase to ensure everyone can live as safe and independent lives as possible, regardless of age or circumstances.

Pauls Quote- “Due to the current situation it has never been more crucial, to recognise the important role that carers play in supporting people to remain well and safe”.

The Care Heroes team are supporting care providers to recruit right now, if you know someone that can really make a difference, find out more about the benefits of working in adult social care and how to start your social care career, visit the Care Heroes website www.careheroes.co.uk or follow @Heroes_Care on twitter and facebook.
