Warwickshire Rural Housing Association (WRHA) is inviting local people to come along and view the plans for a much-needed scheme of new affordable homes in Stourton.

A public consultation meeting is being held in Stourton Village Hall on Thursday, March 12, from 3pm-7pm when individuals can call in to look at the layouts, elevations and house-types planned for the new development.

Six homes for affordable rent and two for shared ownership are planned, with a mix of maisonettes, two and three-bedroom homes.

Representatives from WRHA and Warwickshire Rural Community Council (WRCC) will be on hand to discuss the plans and to answer any questions face-to-face.

The new properties will all be offered to people with a local connection to the village, such as through family or work ties, to enable local people to continue living in their community.

Much local support has already been shown for the affordable homes as people are being forced to move away from Stourton as they cannot afford to live there.

Richard Mugglestone, company secretary of Warwickshire Rural Housing Association, said: “Our plans are for local homes which local people can afford and we want to ensure that as many people as possible have the opportunity to view the layouts and have their say.

“There is a real lack of affordable housing in villages such as Stourton which means that many people cannot find homes within their local community.

"Our aim is to enable families to live and work locally and to help create sustainable communities.”
