A MORETON school dressed up for Harry Potter Day to raise money for disadvantaged children.
Maise-Anne Chatterton a year 6 pupil at Dormer House School, the whole school was invited to come to school dressed as a witch or wizard, a member of staff from Hogwarts or even as a muggle.
There were huge squeals of delight and cheers in assembly, as the children were sorted by the hat into their houses for the day, and teachers were nominated to adopt some of JK Rowling’s fictional subjects such as potions, herbology, transfiguration, history of magic, quidditch and defence against the dark arts.
Throughout the day Harry Potter inspired lessons followed in drama, English, Latin and art.
The chefs even provided a magical themed lunch with Hogwarts flapjack.
Year 6 learnt about Lumos, the charity founded by JK Rowling in 2005 to support disadvantaged children, in institutions around the world.
The children listened to JK Rowling’s hope for a loving family for all children by 2050 and an end to the suffering of 8 million children world wide who are failing to thrive in orphanages and institutions.
The children raised £60 for Lumos.
