ANGLO-SAXON times will be brought back in a thrilling re-enactment at Broadway Museum and Art Gallery.
The re-enactment will be run by the Regia Anglorum society to provide a taste of Anglo-Saxon life.
Claire Collier, operations assistant at the Broadway Museum and Art Gallery and member of the society said, “We will take you on a journey to over 1000 years ago, when the town of Broadway was a small farming village in the Anglo-Saxon kingdom of Mercia.
"The Great-Granddaughter of Alfred the Great; St Eadburgha, enjoyed visiting the area and her name has been dedicated to Broadways church.
“There will be a whole host of skills and crafts from the 10th Century being demonstrated in tents on the Green, and an arena for the local warriors of Mercia and their sub-kingdom Hwicce, to show off their combat skills.”
Elizabeth Eyre, vice-chairman of the museum trustees, added: “This is ‘living history’ —a performance bringing history to life for the general public.”
The event takes place on Saturday August 5 from 10am until 4pm.
