PARENTS have been invited to visit a school which operates in two places.

St James’ and Ebrington Church of England Federated Primary School is an amalgamation of two schools and its headteacher is offering prospective parents the chance to express a choice for which school site would best suit their child.

Ebrington is a village school with small class sizes while St James' is based in Chipping Campden and offers children access to more sporting facilities and playing fields.

The school is holding two open evenings so parents can visit both sites to choose which one they believe would be the best environment for their youngsters.

Headteacher Joanna Jonson said: "It gives me great pleasure to warmly invite parents to visit St. James’ and Ebrington Church of England Primary School for our open evenings.

"I am very proud of our two unique sites and the evenings will provide an opportunity to see the school, meet me, my dedicated staff and supportive parents."

The events are informal drop-in sessions between 6.30pm and 7.30pm with a short presentation at 7pm.

Parents will be treated to cheese and wine with teaching staff and current parents on hand to answer questions and provide guided tours.

A crèche will be available at both Ebrington and St James’ during the events so siblings are also welcome to attend.

The school's federation means that St James’ & Ebrington are united by one headteacher and a governing body and are able to share resources and opportunities.

The school's status as one school with two sites has been backed up by Gloucestershire County Council but the issue had previously caused tension.

Parents hit back after governors considered closing Ebrington and creating more classrooms at the St James' site.

The idea was dropped earlier this year.

Ebrington's open evening will be held on Wednesday, November 9 at Hidcote Road, Ebrington.

St. James’ open evening will be at Thursday, November 10 at Pear Tree Close, Chipping Campden.
