WALKERS, cyclists and horse riders are being called on to get sponsorship to visit as many of the county's beautiful churches as they can on September 12 to raise money for their preservation.

The call is being made by Gloucestershire Historic Churches Trust which will use funds raised to ensure the historic buildings remain in use for generations to come.

One church which is looking for help is Blockley's St Peter and St Paul Church which has bells that require attention to continue ringing out for weddings, funerals and other special occasions.

Call at the church and pick up a sponsorship form and have great fun while striding or riding out.

Mill Dene Garden, close by the church will be open all day, offering free cold drinks for participants and other visitors may enjoy teas and time to look round the garden which is overlooked by the church and has a Saxon burial ground under its herb garden. The funds raised will go to the church.
