A FULL kitchen and bedroom refurbishment has been completed in good time for the Kingham Plough's annual farmers' market on Bank Holiday Sunday.

The pub has been run by chef proprietor Emily Watkins and her husband Miles Lampson since 2007 and has since been featured on numerous TV shows including The Hairy Bikers, Tom Kerridge’s Proper Pub Food and as a competitor on BBC Two's Great British Menu which she won in 2014 with her fish course. She was also invited to cook for war veterans at St Paul's Cathedral in a banquet commemorating the 70th anniversary of the D-Day landings.

March saw the reopening of a brand new kitchen to make more space and make that space as eco-friendly as possible to accommodate and eight-strong brigade of chefs.

The eco-friendly element is reflected in lower energy usage by including induction hobs, water conserving dishwashers and energy saving refrigeration.

Elsewhere there has been the re-development of the annex to create two spacious luxury en-suite bedrooms – to be named Cow Parsley and Chinese Room to give the hotel six individually styled en-suite bedrooms suitable for a range of guests including families, couples and those with dogs.

Now the major work is all out of the way Emily can concentrate on the farmers' market where she will be conducting food demonstrations throughout the day and showcasing her own range of four new homemade ice creams that can be purchased on the day. Flavours include lemon and honeycomb, forced rhubarb, toffee apple and elderflower and raspberry.

Visitor can browse around the array of stalls with treats including local pressed oils, hand raised pies, cured Cotswold game meats and much more.

There are also prizes to be won on the day which is geared towards families and will include a raffle to raise money for Kingfishers Playgroup. There will be a barbecue and hog roast in the evening with real ale and Pimms.

The farmers' market runs from 10am to 2pm.
