I AM writing to beg you not to allow the destruction of Moreton High Street.
Every day we read about yet another high street that has been destroyed because of the arrival of a large supermarket.
The Government is now pumping money into schemes to rejuvenate them. I have shopped in Moreton for more than 30 years and we are very well served with butchers, chemists, flower shops, pet shop etc.
As far as I can see, the council seems hell-bent on pushing out all the small retailers by endlessly raising business rates and now threatening us with a Sainsbury’s.
We already have Budgens. We also have Fosseway Farm Nurseries which also has flowers and pet products, not to mention clothing etc.
We also have Tesco just up the road in Stow. We are already very well served.
