OPPOSITION is growing to plans for a 16,000-panel solar energy farm on land just outside a Cotswold village.

MS Power Projects has submitted plans to Cotswold District Council for the installation of two-and-a-halfmetre- high photovoltaic panels on land at Norton Hall, just off Broad Marston Road, Mickleton.

Residents are up in arms about the plans which include control buildings, cabling, two-metre-high fencing and a CCTV system.

More than 100 people have turned out over the past two weeks to meetings to find out more about the proposals, with many horrified to hear about the plan.

Resident Kris Clarke, who has been encouraging people to write letters of objection to the district council, said: “The support of the villagers coming together and wanting more information, with leaflet drops in every area to stop the development has been overwhelming.

“It goes to show how much the community really value this village and its beautiful surroundings.”
