RICH Hall’s critically acclaimed new show for 2018 comes to Evesham Arts Centre on October 20.

It’s a bit early for Halloween but Hall makes up for it by mentioning Donald Trump.

A spokesman said: “The Hoedown begins as a withering dissection of Trump’s America, but ends up being a celebration of Americana. “There’s stand-up comedy, improvised ballads and cracking good musicianship. Performing will be Rich’s regular band of talented and chronically unemployable urchins: the floor will reek of liquor and spent dreams.”

Rich Hall became popular in the United Kingdom - regularly appearing on TV’s QI, Have I Got News For You, Never Mind The Buzzcocks, 8 Out Of 10 Cats - after winning the Perrier Comedy Award in 2000 in the character of Tennesseean country musician and redneck jailbird Otis Lee Crenshaw. As well as comedy shows, he also writes and presents documentaries on the USA for BBC4.

Rich’s first professional work was as a writer and performer on the original David Letterman Show (1980), and the sketch comedy TV series Fridays from 1980 until 1982. Since finding success in the UK, Hall has gone on to create and star in several series for the BBC, including comedies with Mike Wilmot, and documentaries often concerning cinema of the United States.

The entertainment begins at 8pm on Saturday October 20.
