A LOCAL audience will go to see a show called ‘Good Time Charlie’s Back’, only to discover it’s not Charlie at all, but the comedy writer, radio DJ and TV personality, Danny Baker.

And Danny, by his own admission, will be craving applause: somewhat like a bear craves for honey, or an aardvark yearns for termites.

The multi-talented celebrity will be returning to The Regal in Evesham on Saturday September 29, as part of a new tour.

Danny is no stranger to the venue, as his many local fans will know.

A spokesman said: “ After a sold out show at the stunning art deco venue in May, performing to a crowd of 500, the comedian is back by popular demand and tickets are already selling fast.

“The broadcasting legend had vowed that his 2017 Cradle To The Stage tour would be his last, but, in his own words ‘the applause of the public can be a seductive narcotic’, so this new tour is almost certainly your last chance to see the man himself live at The Regal.”

Unless of course the old craving strikes again.

The spokesman added: “We’re thrilled that Danny Baker is returning to The Regal again this September for what is sure to be another hugely entertaining night.

“If you missed his show earlier this year then this is a must see.”

Baker was a young journalist at the outset of the punk era, and he worked for the New Musical Express.

As well as being an iconic radio broadcaster and, in recent years, a football commentator, he has made innumerable television appearances, including on classic comedy shows such as Have I Got News For You, Shooting Stars and Room 101.

The Regal, Evesham, is a Grade II listed art deco style cinema, which originally opened in October 1932. After closing in 2003, the building deteriorated and a major restoration project began on the cinema in 2009. Its doors re-opened in January 2012,
